First Head

05/25/2007
I worked on him yesterday, but didn't like anything I did...I kinda felt like I was making mud. I was in a much better groove tonight, but I think the wrinkles need significant work. He or she will still maintain a lot of the stylized look that I have going on so far, but it loses something with the wrinkles being so wacky. I need to gather some more reference on sagging, wrinkly skin.

This is the beginning of a head sketch I am working on in ZBrush. I have been telling myself for months that I want to start modeling and detailing in ZBrush and I finally just said to hell with the other crap I have to do.! I haven't sat down and and made art in so llong. It's been invigorating and every day I cant wait to get home to work on it more.

My original intention was to work on the ZBrush 3 sculpting tutorial, but I got bored and had to make my face crazy. I have been texturing a charcter for a friend that has a lot of wrinkles, and this was a great way to put that knowledge toward a personal project. Not sure if this will end up being a man or woman, I kind of like the idea of taking this face and morphing it into different caricatures of older people. I love wrinkles.
